Trailing Words (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a word-chain game available on web and Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

a) Nickname (Leaderboard)

When you submit a score to the global leaderboard, you choose a nickname. This nickname and your score are stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and displayed publicly on the leaderboard. We do not collect your real name, email address, or any account credentials.

b) Usage Data (Analytics)

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymised usage data such as which game modes are played, session length, and general device information (device type, OS version, country). This data helps us improve the game. It is not linked to any personal identity.

c) Voice Input (Microphone)

The game offers an optional voice-input feature for entering words. Audio is processed on-device by your browser or operating system and is not transmitted to or stored by us.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To display leaderboard rankings
• To understand how the game is used and improve it
• To send optional push notifications (if you grant permission)

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with third parties except for the services that power the app:

• Google Firebase (Firestore, Analytics, Cloud Messaging) — used to store leaderboard scores, collect anonymous analytics, and deliver push notifications. Firebase is operated by Google LLC. See Firebase’s privacy information.

4. Data Retention

Leaderboard entries (nickname + score) are retained indefinitely to maintain the all-time rankings. Anonymous analytics data is retained per Google Firebase’s default retention settings. You can request deletion of your leaderboard entry by contacting us.

5. Children’s Privacy

Trailing Words is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

6. Your Choices

• Analytics:You can opt out of Firebase Analytics by using your device’s standard opt-out settings (Android: Google Settings → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation).
• Notifications: You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.
• Microphone: You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your device settings.

7. Security

We use industry-standard services (Firebase) that apply appropriate security measures to protect stored data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable precautions.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
